WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON MY FIRST DAY IN COURT?
In Harris County and most surrounding jurisdictions your first day in the courthouse will not be the day you go to trial. Usually, the judge or the court coordinator will call the docket and inquire as to whether you have hired an attorney. Normally, you will not be asked if you are going to plead guilty nor will anyone talk to you about the facts of the case.
The first court setting is a chance for your lawyer to review some the evidence. It is also an opportunity for the judge to impose bond conditions after hearing a recitation of the facts from the prosecutor.
